I’m a big fan of Grace Hopper and I wanted to pay tribute to this rarely recognized pioneer. She always fought the status quo and the people that love to say “We’ve always done it this way”.
I hope you find her story, illustrated in this comic, as motivating as I do.
This comic was originally published here.
I finally colored this comic 🙂
You can buy a print in the form below.
- This is NOT an anti-religion/atheist-propaganda comic. The comic and the song (at least as I understand it) tries to communicate that no matter your faith, we should all share the world in peace… As silly as that sounds.
- Yes, MLK, Gandhi and Marley were spiritual people. Read point one 🙂
- This is NOT an antisemitic comic. The Israeli soldier is breaking the cycle of war to play some football. Come on!
- That is Anna Politkovskaya, an awesome Russian journalist, writer and activist.
- Yes, John Lennon probably was a douche wife-beater, but still, “Imagine” transcends the unpleasant facts about its composer.
You can see the original comic in black and white + some colors here.

Second coming of Christ.
Today nearly all historians, whether Christians or not, accept that Jesus existed. There is disagreement on the details of his life according to the gospels; the acknowledgment of his existence does not include agreement regarding his divinity. When historians focus on the life of Jesus, they discover a Jesus who is completely different from the one portrayed by popular culture or by religious texts. There are some things almost everyone agrees on, though: he was baptized, he had disciples, he had a controversy at the temple and was crucified.
One of the things that is not very much discussed is Jesus’ sexual orientation. Was Mary Magdalene his lover/wife? Was he asexual, heterosexual, gay? In this comic I play with the idea of Jesus being gay, surprising his current believers who have not followed his word of love and forgiveness. I started having this idea when I had a discussion with a catholic friend who opposes gays in general. The idea just popped in my head. What if Jesus was gay too? What if there was some evidence that proved that? What would my friend think? Of course, my friend got offended– and pretty angry at me. But why? Why is the idea so bad? We have had many great gay personalities and historical figures. Why couldn’t Jesus be one? Ever since I had that debate (back when I was only 16 years old), the idea has been stuck in my head. It’s not until now that I speak openly about it with this comic.
I suppose there might be some historical evidence disagreeing with this notion, but I’m just trying to bring an alternative idea; open your mind a bit and try to be more accepting and loving to the gay community.
Fag hag : (from wikipedia) Gay slang phrase referring to a woman who either associates mostly or exclusively with gay and bisexual men, or has gay and bisexual men as close friends (wikipedia). I’m saying Mary Magdalene could’ve been one.
I’m not saying all internships are bad but, unfortunately, a lot of them are just rip-offs. Specially on big ‘cool’ companies where there are plenty of eager aspirants waiting for the chance to take your position. You get on an unpaid internship thinking of the experience you would receive and how it would help you land a good job in the future. Instead you end up doing chores that have no learning value like picking up coffee and other stuff that the company would otherwise have to pay someone for.
Do you have any internship horror stories, or maybe a good experience you would like to talk about? Share on the comments!
There is always confusion on knowing what belief position we have. Atheist? Agnostic? Theist? Gnostic? I found a guide online and I thought I could improve it by adding characters and make it a bit friendlier. Now you can know what the hell you are. That’s, of course, if you believe in hell… or know there is a hell… Or believe in hell, but don’t really know… Oh, God, I give up.
EDIT: For more in-depth analysis about this, you can check out this article by John S. Wilkins.
The true meaning of Xmas is celebrating Isaac Newton’s birthday.
The responses to the question “If we all end up dying, what’s the purpose of living?” on Quora inspired me to write this comic. The consensus was that at the end, to the universe we’re no more important than a rock. We’re so tiny that trying to find a meaning for our lives seems even arrogant, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it. You eat a donut (or a cake, like Quora suggested), and enjoy it without worrying that you’ll finish it in a few bites.
What do you think?
As some of you know, I’ve been working with the tech company Koding for a bit. I have been surrounded by geek/nerd culture for the past months and I’ve just realized I was just a poser that called himself a ‘geek’. These guys are hardcore!
Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!
Note: Thanks to Gaby Ferman for her comment suggesting to add Isaac Newton’s Birthday.
A typical Black Friday in America.
Last year I made this comic and posted it on 9GAG. They deleted my account (I don’t know why) and I realized the comic wasn’t available anymore so, here it is again.
It’s funny how it all could make sense if we see this comic of Anna and Toby as a prequel since Grammar Nazi’s name was also Anna.
I started working on a design project with the guys from koding.com and we had the idea of a comic with halloween costumes that only programmers, IT guys or web developers would get… so I came up with this cheesy strip.
By the way, if you’re a web designer, developer, programmer (or all of the above), you should totally check their stuff. They give you a free Virtual Machine with EVERY programming language pre-installed so you can play around or create something awesome: koding.com

This is half of the first episode of Anna and Toby. A comic about two best friends that find themselves by chance and help each other against a hostile world. My first try at a story that doesn’t have a punch line and isn’t just ‘funny’. I really hope you like it.
The next episodes will be featured on Web Toon Live every Monday.
This happens every time I ask someone to take my photo.
Note:For those interested in knowing what that awesome statue is all about, you can read this comic.
Wearing glasses has a difficult circumstance from which there is no escape.
When I was young, I was fascinated with the idea of E.T. intelligence; worlds of creatures like us, up there, wondering about the same. How would their thinking be like? What would they look like? Is their technology better than us? Do they have ‘gods’ like us?… I was also a bit of a UFO nut, I recorded VHS videos of different sightings and I do presentations to my classroom about it. Needless to say, they thought I was crazy. In a sense, there’s still that poster from Agent Mulder hung in my head; “I want to believe”.
Comic based on a green text story by anon. Apparently The Simpsons did something similar too on that episode where Homer works from home because he’s too fat. I’m not original, leave me alone.
Is society making you feel bad because you look too middle aged? Screw them! Put on your armor and slay them with your sword like dragons!
I heart Pink
Here are two comics about some features from the new iPhone. To be honest, I’m not excited about Apple products anymore, it seems like they stopped innovating… but, wait… it comes in pink? OMG, I NEED ONE!
